Yelyzaveta Fatieieva

Yelyzaveta was born and lived in Mariupol, where she attended Pryazovskyi State Technical University. She worked as a seller and was an actress at the Mariupol amateur theatre “Theatromania.”
As the war escalated and the situation in Mariupol deteriorated, on 5 March 2022, she, her mother Oksana Mazina, Yelyzaveta’s then-boyfriend Dmytro Murantsev and their cat came to the Drama Theatre to evacuate. As the Russian Federation army broke the ceasefire, Yelyzaveta and her family had to stay in the theater. While staying there, the witness and Dmytro often left the building searching for food and water in the surrounding neighborhoods.
During the bombing of the theater on 16 March 2022 by the Russian Federation army, Yelyzaveta and her family were in a bomb shelter that remained intact. Afterward, the family managed to leave the city.
This is a short version of a six-hour interview with Yelyzaveta, which was conducted using the methodology of spatial testimonies. Yelyzaveta talks about the bombing of Mariupol, life in the theater, and the attack on it.
